Pass Program

What is P.A.S.S?

At Troy Middle School, we believe that all students can and must learn at a high level of achievement. In order to meet the needs of our students academically, intervention measures have been set up to provide students with extra support when needed. PASS is an intervention program that stands for Providing Academic Support Services. Through this program, students receive additional support on homework and applicable skills within a small group setting.

What is the goal of this program?

The goal of PASS is to provide a secure environment and teacher support centered around skill retention and homework completion. Through ongoing communication with students’ teachers and teams, we hope to strategically provide time and support in the academic areas where it is needed most. Student progress is number one and this is an intervention measure designed to help our students become successful, lifelong learners.

How can my child join PASS?

Students are selected for the PASS Program by their team of teachers and counselors based upon high need in the areas of: homework completion, low assessment scores, and standardized test data. Due to the demands of this program and keeping a small student to teacher ratio, there is a limited class roster.

Is this a yearlong program?

The program is scheduled to run from the months of October to May with breaks around the holidays. The program meets twice a week after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30pm until 4:00pm. Buses are provided to take students home. With a limited roster, students are expected to attend Tuesday and Thursday sessions each week. However, students can graduate from the PASS Program once they have three consecutive weeks without any missing work.

Please call the Troy Middle School main office at (815) 230-9920 with any questions, and thanks in advance for your support!
