Student Responsibilities with Examples
As a student, I will share the responsibility to improve my academic achievement to ensure that I achieve at a high level by:
- Contributing as a safe and positive member of my classroom, school, and community.
- Example: Raising your hand in class to answer a question or participating in the activities in the gym.
- Example: Do not criticize others, but encourage them.
- Asking for help when I need it in regards to my education and social-emotional well-being.
- Example: If you don’t understand a certain homework problem, ask for help so you can understand how to answer it.
- Example: If you cannot complete an assignment at home, you email your teacher letting them know what you are struggling with so you can work on it in a timely manner.
- Example: Talk to a trusted adult and/or fill out the Student Services Help Desk Form.
- Doing my assignments, including classwork and homework, every day.
- Example: Always completing the work assigned and not having any missing or late assignments.
- Challenging myself to take risks in my learning.
- Example: When there are choices for which assignment to do, choose the more difficult one that will help you learn more.
- Example: Try all the questions assigned even if some are difficult or confusing.
- Seeking feedback about my learning from my teachers.
- Example: Ask teachers how you are doing in class and if there is anything you need to work on.
- Example: Review graded work to see what was incorrect; try to correct it or ask for feedback on how to correct it.
- Ensuring I am aware of what I am learning, what I need to do to be successful, and why it is important.
- Example: Read the Agenda, Learning Targets, Criteria for Success, and Grading Rubrics that are available in my classrooms or Google classrooms.
- Example: Ask critical questions that would evaluate my learning and overall benefit my classmates.
- Example: Bring all required materials to class including Chromebook/Charger and supplies.
